Digitalized decisions of the Municipal Council, 2007-2013, donated by INFOÇIP to FIER Municipality

FIER, May 6^th, 2013 – The Center for Public Information Issues delivered to Municipal Council of Fier the digital database of its decisions, already uploaded online into www.vendime.al and linked to the home page of the Official Website of Fier Municipality. The donation ceremony was held in the Council’s meeting of Monday, on May 6^th, 2013. The Council’s chair, Mrs. Donika Jorgaqi, invited the Director of CPII,  Mr. Gerti Shella, to address the City Council in the beginning of the Plenary session. Mr. Shella in his speech thanked the Council for the opportunity to cooperating together in the frame of the initiative of digitalizing the Council’s decision of Albanian Municipalities. He thanked in particular the Mayer, Mr. Baftjar Zeqo. He also expressed his gratitude to the vice Mayor of Fier, Mr, Florjan Mucaj, who provided all necessary facilities for the CPII staff, while working in the premises of the Municipality to digitalize the decisions. Then, Mr. Shella made a full demonstration of the database and its relevant functions. Mr. Shella also thanked the secretary of the Fier Municipal Council, Mr. Xhevit Bushi for the support and cooperation provided.

The database of Fieri’s Municipal Council decisions was the third to be delivered, after that of Lushnja and Berat, in the framework of the second phase of digitalization program for the municipal councils’ decisions, which includes four municipalities, (Fier, Vlora, Lushnja  and Berat). This important process is conducted by CPII in the frame of the initiative “Open Local Governance through Innovation”, which is being supported by the Commission for Democracy of the US Embassy in Tirana.

All decisions uploaded and published online by CPII are accessible by anyone, searchable by keywords and can be downloaded free of charge and at any time by all interested parties.  CPII is about to provide a capacity building program  (full training) to the responsible personnel at the Fier  Municipality in order to enable them to autonomously upload all the decisions in their own part of the  database from now on.
